Princess Alexandra, born Alexandra Caroline Maria
Charlotte Louisa Julia (1844-1925), was the eldest daughter of Prince
Christian of Gluecksburg (afterwards King Christian IX of Denmark) and
Louise, daughter of the Landgrave William of Hesse. In 1863 she married
Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (afterwards Edward VII). She became Queen
Consort to King Edward VII on the death of Queen Victoria in 1901 and was
crowned with him in 1902 in Westminster
Abbey. One of her sisters married
the tsar of Russia and became the mother of Tsar Nicholas II. |
