The year 2011 marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of the town of Eagle Point, Oregon. The city sponsored a Centennial Bike Ride to commemorate the anniversary and awarded medals to everyone who rode the race. Centennial bike rides are usually 100 miles but this one was 100 kilometers.

Eagle Point is a city in Jackson County, Oregon, United States of America.  Several celebrated persons lived in or near Eagle Point, including television actor Patrick Duffy, actress Kim Novak, and film and stage actress, dancer, and singer Ginger Rogers.  Ms. Rogers, who for many years lived in a nearby ranch, visited Eagle Point frequently.

Eagle Point attracts many other visitors as well as it is near the the Denman Wildlife Area (originally the Rogue Valley Game Management Area), a noted wildlife management region.

The recipient of this particular medal was Allison Weiss, then the Executive Director of the Southern Oregon Historical Society.  She presently holds the position of Executive Director of the Sandy Spring Museum, Sandy Spring, Maryland.
