Victor Amadeus II (1666-1732), Duke of Savoy, was King of Sicily from1713 to1718 and King of Sardinia from1720 until his abdication in 1730. He is famous for his aggrandizement of the house of Savoy as a European power and also for his astute changes of alliance in wartime.
