Ref: Trésor II, X, 7-8 obv; The obverse is also similar to that in Jones II, 245, but this flan is 51 mm whereas that in Jones 245 is 49 mm. This piece has a different reverse from that of Jones 245.

In 1667 Louis invaded the Spanish Netherlands, precipitating the War of Devolution (1667-1668), which ended with France gaining Franche-Compte, Lorraine, and parts of Flanders. Perhaps this medal refers to this event.
