JOSEPHINE, EMPRESS AND QUEEN ANDRIEU, Bertrand: France, 1805, Lead-filled Bronze, 68
mm Josephine de Beauharnais (1763-1814), Consort of Napoleon I, was empress of the French from 1804 to 1809. She married Napoleon in 1796 but her extravagance and inability to bear him a son caused Napoleon to obtain an annulment of their marriage in 1809. Her daughter Hortense was the mother of Napoleon III.
